This is similar to the previous statement. Essentially, the Code of Fair Information Practices intends to empower individuals by giving them more knowledge.
Cookies would be more "fair" if users were told their contents and the intended use of the information. Although you can ask to review cookies before accepting them, the message that is displayed does not give you any information that would help you make that decision. I don't consider a message that says: "This site wants to set a Cookie: IjHkll769 Nhgjk78 8877 to expire on January 2010. OK?" to fulfill this part of the code. |
